Modern phones usually read NFC automatically. Placement varies slightly by device, so a brief, steady hold works best.
Android
Near the back sensor
Hold the card near the upper or central back of the phone. NFC may need to be enabled in device settings.
If nothing happens
Unlock the phone, remove thick or metal cases, move the card slowly around the NFC area, and confirm NFC is enabled. The card needs no battery or charging.
